The pH scale

pH [H+(aq)]/mol dm-3
-1 10
0 1
1 10^-1
2 10^-2
3 10^-3
4 10^-4
5 10^-5
6 10^-6
7 10^-7
8 10^-8
9 10^-9
10 10^-10
11 10^-11
12 10^-12
13 10^-13
14 10^-14
15 10^-15

pH is the negative power of [H+].

[H+(aq)] = 10^-pH

Hence, pH = -log[H+(aq)]

From the equation, we can see that a small pH indicates a large [H+(aq)], and vice versa.
